Time to dust off the ol’ blog…

This poor, poor neglected blog…it’s way past time to bring some life back to it.  Although, to be quit honest, I’m never sure I ever breathed much life into it in the first place.  Ah well…no time like the present!

In two short days, Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas (hereafter to be known as jyc) will be starting.  I’ve made a couple attempts at this before…and quitting before I even gave it a fair chance.  My first attempt never got much farther then trying to decide what size I wanted my book (how pathetic!) The next year I had all these wonderful elaborate ideas to make the most beautiful journal anyone could ever imagine.  I would hand piece all sorts of wonderful elements and use glitter and…well, you get the picture.  That was just asking for failure.

This year, I’m making it easy on myself.  I’m just going to go with the flow…I’m going to follow Shimelle’s prompts and use Ali’s freestyle journal.  I don’t promise to post everyday…but I’ll post often.

I’m getting excited!

Art in Nature

Isn’t this beautiful? It’s a spiral aloe that we spotted at the zoo today.  (This makes up for not being able to see the polar bears)

Just Checking In…

This week, we are on mid-winter break from school.  (and a month after this, we’ll be on Spring Break…it’s no wonder we go to school until the end of June!)

This morning, I woke up with an incredible idea of what to give my Sweetie for his birthday next month.  He is so hard to get anything for as he seems to have everything he want.  But one thing that he can’t get for himself is a doll (although I think guys call them “Action Figures”) of his World of Warcraft character.

I asked my Shaun to give me detailed screen shots and I’m SOOO excited to get started.  (Isn’t that always how it is with brand new ideas?)  The only thing is, we are all taking a long day trip to the coast.  I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get started on this.  I’ll have plenty of time to think about it, I guess!

Have a wonderful Day!

Faith

KT has always had more faith in my abilities than I ever have.  Her whole life she’s known that she has but to ask me to do something  special for her and I will do my best to make it happen.  Over the years, I’ve created some pretty fancy birthday cakes, elaborate Halloween costumes, a semi-formal dress and painted an underwater world in her room.

I’ve often thought there wasn’t any possible way I could actually do what she had asked me to.  Yet her unwavering faith has caused me to actually try and of course, to succeed in each endeavor.

My eldest child has, once again, cooked up a new project for me.  She wants me to make her a coat.  Yes, a coat.  I tried to explain to her that people don’t make coats, they go to the store and buy them.  She simply wouldn’t listen to my very reasonable explanation.  (You know something is wrong when I’m the one being logical!)  KT’s thoughts were that I could make her the exact coat that she wanted.

So the search for the perfect patten and the perfect fabric began.  Fortunately for me, it took a while for KT to decide on what she wanted.  But  eventually she did.  So in the next week or so, I will magically transform these few yards of fabric into a fully lined, perfect corduroy coat for my daughter.

I”m only doing this because KT has faith that I actually can…

I’m Getting Behind!

Just a quick update, I’ve had last minute doubts about how I wanted to do my Christmas Journal.  I’ve finally gotten it all worked out (I hope!) and will be posting the first few promts later on this evening.  REALLY later on…like maybe even in the morning!

It’s Christmas Time!!

What The Holidays Mean to You

For you, the holidays are about emotional connections and bonds. You are happiest being around those you love. You celebrate the holidays in an over the top style. If something is cute, you’ll buy it. People end up with a lot of gifts from you – and your house is like a holiday wonderland, full of decorations.

During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in.

You think the holidays should be nostalgic and sweet. The holidays bring out your inner child.

Your best holiday memories are of childhood foods and traditions. You secretly still wish you believed in Santa Claus.

What Do the Holidays Mean to You?

Hello??? What is this thing talking about?  I wish I believed in Santa???

A Scrappin’ Meme

Normally, I’m not big on doing memes, but I’ve got to get something on this poor neglected blog! I stole this one from Sara.  I thought it was kinda cute and a good way to get me thinking about scrapbooking again.

1. If you could have $100 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments, which would you choose?

Gosh, isn’t this horrible, I really don’t know what’s out there anymore, the styles have changed so much.  I’d be quite happy to get one of those Bind-it-alls, some more Bazzil of course, lots of chipboard an embellishments, Heidi Swapp stuff is yummy, um…can’t I just go on my own little spree and toss everything in the basket?  Oh, I know, I need organizational stuff!

2. If you had to choose between using only stamps or rub-ons which would you choose?

I’m gonna go with the rub ons here.
That’s easy, rub-ons.  I think I use them on just about everything.

3. If you knew how to do both awesome cards and layouts, but could only do one for a year which would you do?
Layouts without a doubt.  Cards are just tossed out after a while.  I want my work to last!

4. Would you rather own a scrapbooking store or have your own scrapping room at home (can’t have both, lol)
My own room.  Of course it would need to be spacious enough to invite my scrappin’ buddies over when I wanted, and as well stocked as a store.  I just don’t want to have to deal with the business end of it and worry about all the fun being sucked out of it.

5. And then last but not least, what is your current cardmaking or scrapping style?

I’m supposed to have a style? Huh.

I’d go with bright and whimsical.  Lots of journaling and details of everyday life.

Ooooo…New Toys!

I’ve heard a lot about how wonderful the Caran D’Arche water soluble crayons are.  Being as cheap frugal as I am though, I couldn’t quite bring myself to purchase any.  (Well I probably could if I could find a place to buy them that would take a forty percent off coupon!)

So when I found a great deal on them a week or so ago, I had to jump on them.  To my delight, they have arrived.  So far, we’ve just been eyeing and sniffing each other.  I’m not quite ready to start playing with them yet.  In a silly way, it’s like the first stroke will ruin their perfection.  (Kinda like a brand new journal I guess).

Tomorrow, I will take a deep breath and break them in!

I am very thankful to have them!

And So It Begins…

I’m going to go for it….NaBloPoMo here I am!

This means that I am commiting to posting something every single day this month.   My goal is to also do something creative and post it here.  (I’ve also got to figure out what is wrong with my camera!)

I’m also going to particiapate in

Everyday I will post something that I am thankful for.

Today, I am thankful that I still have the urge to find my creative passion and the desire to work towards it.

It’s Time To Party!

This is my first Bloglandia Event and I’m so excited to mingle with all the other party goers.  If you haven’t heard yet, Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun is hosting a huge Halloween Extravaganza! I’m not quite dressed yet, but I do have my lovely crown that prounounces me “The Halloween Queen”.  It must be true, as who am I to argue with a crown?

Come on in! Don’t mind the four bouncers at the door…they make look a little scarey, but they are just pumpkins at heart.

Although you might want to be just a little leary of what haunts the Jack O’Lanterns…

If you see any skeletons trying to sneak out of the closet, please gently scoot them back in

More Halloween goodness to come later!

Edit to add: Sadly my camera seems to be a little haunted right now and won’t let me download any more pics.  I never got to the “treat” part! I hope I didn’t scare you too badly!
