What the mailman brought!

I was so excited to find a pale blue envelope in this morning’s mail.  I was even more excited to find a little sticker sending it by Air Mail…and it said Royal Mail. (Oooo maybe it was a letter telling me that I was really a princess like Mia).

Sadly, nobody has realized that I am a princess yet, but the envelope’s contents more than up for it. The beautiful felted flower brooch that I won from Jox at The Knitted Blog during OHOW had arrived.

Thank you so much Jox!

Art in Nature

Isn’t this beautiful? It’s a spiral aloe that we spotted at the zoo today.  (This makes up for not being able to see the polar bears)

Just Checking In…

This week, we are on mid-winter break from school.  (and a month after this, we’ll be on Spring Break…it’s no wonder we go to school until the end of June!)

This morning, I woke up with an incredible idea of what to give my Sweetie for his birthday next month.  He is so hard to get anything for as he seems to have everything he want.  But one thing that he can’t get for himself is a doll (although I think guys call them “Action Figures”) of his World of Warcraft character.

I asked my Shaun to give me detailed screen shots and I’m SOOO excited to get started.  (Isn’t that always how it is with brand new ideas?)  The only thing is, we are all taking a long day trip to the coast.  I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get started on this.  I’ll have plenty of time to think about it, I guess!

Have a wonderful Day!

And the winner is…

I was thrilled to find that 84 people signed up for my very last minute addition to the One Heart~One World giveaway with my invisible primitive angel!   I had so much fun going around visiting and entering a few drawings…I even won two! Yay!  Now I plan on going around visiting…and actually exploring all those blogs just for fun.  Although, it may take me a while!

Anyways, back to the drawing.  I called out to my daughter to pick a number between 1 and 84.  She called back “79″…then wanted to know what for.  Isn’t that a typical teenage thing?

I was ready to count all the entries, but was pleased to find that WordPress already did it for me. Yay! So…lucky number 79 is Angelina for Angelina’s Trinkets.   I’ve just got to share her entry as it’s just so sweet. She said,

“I may be too late to enter your drawing but I’m not to late to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Birthday. If all these bloogers could group our voices together at this one single moment – I know we’d be singing you the best Happy Birthday song you’ve ever heard. Oh, hmmm, forgot to say, Thank you for visiting Angelina’s Trinkets and signing up for my drawing. If I’m not too late to enter your drawing, please add me to your list. Best wishes, Angelina”

Angelina, please send me your mailing info so I can send my little friend out to you.

I’ve been checking out all the entrants (yeah…there’s only 400 plus of them!) for Lisa’s One World~One Heart project. I can’t tell you how much fun I’m having visiting all these new-to-me blogs and seeing all the amazing things everyone is giving away.

I think that bloggers (and crafting ones in particular) are such amazing, open people.  After all, who else is going to open up their lives and their work to the entire world?

A few blogs that I have come across in my Lisa-Travels have mentioned that they only wanted people with “active” blogs to sign up for their drawing.  I get that.  The whole purpose of One Heart is to encourage bloggers to meet and connect with each other.  I just can’t help but wonder what exactly does “active” mean to each person?

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not so great about posting on this blog.  I seem to go through spurts where I post for a while, then taper off to once a month or so.  It’s a big switch from my everyday blog.  I post there at least three or times a week.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tempted to just throw in the towel and close this blog down.  Yet, for some reason…I don’t seem to be able to.  I want this blog to work.  And I want it to work separately from my other blog.   No reason…I just do.

So maybe this One World project (along with leaving my job) will give me the push I need to nurture this.  Maybe I’ll make some artsy-type of blogger friends.  Then again…maybe nobody will ever come back and comment on whatever I manage to post anyways.  Does that matter? Shouldn’t it be enough just to post for myself?

I think it should.  Once again, I am proclaiming my blog “Active”. I will take the time to create and brag about it on this blog…even if it ends up being only to me.

That’s my birthday present to me!

Think Easter

basket-giveaway.jpg

Nancy is having a drawing for the most amazing Easter Basket you can ever imagine.  While you are there, be sure to snoop around a bit.  Everything she has is drool worthy.  Quick–go sign up! Second thought, don’t…less competition for me!

One World~~One Heart

oneheart

I’ve been trolling all of my favorite crafty blogs (you know that big huge list that hasn’t quite managed to make it onto the sidebar) and started noticing all sorts of give-aways.  It seems that Lisa Oceandreamer is coordinating her second annual One World-One Heart event.   I remember seeing it last year…and just couldn’t bring myself to sign up for any of the give-aways as I didn’t have anything to offer back.  (Nope, that’s not a requirement, just one of my little quirks).

So this year I am offering up this sweet little angel.  Now, you have to use your imagination to see her as I can’t seem to get her downloaded from the camera. Never fear, I will get my sweetie to help me and have her posted when I get off work tomorrow.

What does she look like? Hmmm, she’s just a folksy cloth angel.  Not a very good description…sorry.  Trust me, she’s adorable!  Please make a comment and maybe she’ll be making her new home with you.

I will do the drawing on the evening of the 14th (I’ve got to add as much time to this as possible as I joined in so late.) right after my birthday celebrations! Yep, I’m a Valentine Baby!

Faith

KT has always had more faith in my abilities than I ever have.  Her whole life she’s known that she has but to ask me to do something  special for her and I will do my best to make it happen.  Over the years, I’ve created some pretty fancy birthday cakes, elaborate Halloween costumes, a semi-formal dress and painted an underwater world in her room.

I’ve often thought there wasn’t any possible way I could actually do what she had asked me to.  Yet her unwavering faith has caused me to actually try and of course, to succeed in each endeavor.

My eldest child has, once again, cooked up a new project for me.  She wants me to make her a coat.  Yes, a coat.  I tried to explain to her that people don’t make coats, they go to the store and buy them.  She simply wouldn’t listen to my very reasonable explanation.  (You know something is wrong when I’m the one being logical!)  KT’s thoughts were that I could make her the exact coat that she wanted.

So the search for the perfect patten and the perfect fabric began.  Fortunately for me, it took a while for KT to decide on what she wanted.  But  eventually she did.  So in the next week or so, I will magically transform these few yards of fabric into a fully lined, perfect corduroy coat for my daughter.

I”m only doing this because KT has faith that I actually can…

I’m Getting Behind!

Just a quick update, I’ve had last minute doubts about how I wanted to do my Christmas Journal.  I’ve finally gotten it all worked out (I hope!) and will be posting the first few promts later on this evening.  REALLY later on…like maybe even in the morning!

It’s Christmas Time!!
